The Might Contain Nuts Team are delighted to announce the return of The Welsh One Day Ultra Marathon Series, offering fantastic terrain, great trail and challenging courses. If you want endless bland towpath or multiple loops you have come to the wrong place, using our intimate knowledge of Mid Wales we have designed the series to show off some of the best trail running the UK has to offer. Each round offers it’s own unique challenge as well as providing the perfect preparation for athletes tackling multi day events like The MDS, UTMB (each round providing qualifying points) and other epic challenges. Round 1 takes place in the beautiful Black Mountains. With a new, larger race HQ the challenging course will take you up and over several ridges testing your climbing legs to the full, a series theme! The reward for all this climbing is some fantastic open ridge running and weather permitting, stunning views. The date will be Saturday 1st October 2011. |

Round 2, 'The Ultra Brecon 40 (UB40) - COLD' builds on the course used last year with the first half remaining the same. Having listened to feedback the second half will largely avoid the canal and will instead use a mix of entertaining bridleway and footpaths to deliver the athletes back to race HQ. The date is Saturday 3rd December 2011. Will the weather prove as challenging this year? Round 3, 'The Wye One Way 50', will remain largely unchanged with a linear course that was very well received. The contrasts from ravine gorges cloaked in woodland through to river side meadow provides a real sense of a journey through this largely unexplored but strikingly beautiful area of Mid Wales. The date will be Saturday the 10th March 2012. Round 4, 'The Ultra Brecon 40 (UB40) - WARM-ish' was run for the first time as part of the Run Further UK Ultra Running Championships. We were delighted with the response to a course which is both stunning and challenging in equal measure. The highest peaks in Southern Britain will provide the perfect conclusion to The Welsh One Day Ultra Marathon Series. The date will be Saturday 12th May 2012. For individuals or teams interested in the series title, your best three results will count. A team can consist of up to the same 5 individuals with the first 3 athletes home counting. Round 4 will be The Series decider and therefore must be completed to qualify for the series standings. Further details will be added to the site shortly. |
